Christian Questioner: As a matter of course, all human beings as children of God are born of a father and a mother. But, Jesus was born only of a mother, a virgin woman, namely Mary. Why is he not the only begotten son of God?
Muslim Scholar: Begetting does not beseem the greatness of God. It is rather an animal act. It is the function of low animals of sex. If you say that Jesus is God or the son of God because he had no father but only a mother, Adam should be a bigger God or son of God because he had neither a father nor a mother according to the very logic of the Bible itself.
The Qur’an says:
Indeed, the example of Jesus to God is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to him, “Be,” and he was. (Aal `Imran 3:59)
Jesus is the prophet and messenger of God because God “does not beget nor is he begotten” (Al-Ikhlas 3:112)
